Day 1: Fairbanks to Basecamp Shuttle

Introduction:

Fairbanks

The second-largest Alaskan city is a great place to view the Northern Lights, also called aurora borealis. Fairbanks was founded in 1901 by Captain E. T. Barnette and was named after Indiana politician and one-time U.S. vice president Charles Fairbanks. Points of interest within the city and nearby are Pioneer Park, Museum of the North, Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge, IceAlaska Ice Park, Santa Claus House, and Goldstream Dredge No. 8.

Tour Overview:

Welcome to Borealis Basecamp! Today you will be picked up by our Borealis Basecamp shuttle at 2:30pm from your Fairbanks area hotel or from the Fairbanks airport. Please be ready at least 15 minutes prior.

On arrival, your shuttle driver will deliver your luggage to your igloo while you're greeted by our incredible staff. From there, you will be ushered to your Arctic Igloo for an evening of Aurora Viewing. Dinner is available at your own cost at Latitude 65, our on-site restaurant.

Igloo or Cube accommodation is now available for you to select when booking.

Day 4: Adventure at Borealis Basecamp

Introduction:

Tour Overview:

Time for your Reindeer Meet & Greet! Your tour guide will introduce you to Dwight, Aurora and Borealis our on-site reindeer, for a 30 minute long tour in the enclosure. You'll have the opportunity to feed Dwight, Aurora and Borealis as you learn how they live year round in the Arctic.

This afternoon will be your Basecamp snow coach tour. On this 2 hour long tour, you will ride along the 'fire break' in front of Borealis Basecamp in the heated cab of our snow coach. The fire break was created 7 years ago as a way to keep fires from crossing one side of the forest to another, and now provides us with a beautiful open space to view animal tracks or, if you're lucky, see some wild animals! Halfway through the tour you will come to a scenic viewpoint, where your guide will pour you a drink (champagne, local beer, or a soda of your choice), which you can drink while watching the sunset.

Great experience
The Borealis Basecamp should be added to every travel itinerary when you travel to Northern Alaska. The entire property is beautiful with gorgeous views and an amazing staff. Everyone on site was super knowledgeable and went above and beyond and took care of us during out entire stay. The sunset UTV ride, the Reindeer meet & greet and walks, the Sauna, everything was amazing. Latitude 65 had absolutely mouth-watering dishes and every meal was better than the last. We even got a chance to speak with the chef and compliment on the entire menu, and we followed him, as well as the BaseCamp on Instagram. Make it a priority to stay at the Borealis Basecamp!

The best!!!!
My husband and I booked a tour for igloo for five days and four nights. Every single aspect of the Basecamp was five stars. We did the white mountains heli tour with snow mobiling, dog sledding, sauna and reindeer meet and greet. We also did the photographer. Everything was exceptional: the igloo, excursions, employees, and restaurant. The bed was the most comfortable bed of all time. Absolute five star experience all around. We even saw the northern lights all three nights we stayed!! Can’t wait to go back!

Great experience!
I visited Borealis Basecamp and had a great experience. The igloos were great, saw the lights every night I was there, great activities and the food (although pricey) was very good. The aurora borealis baked Alaska was particularly impressive.

Chasing Aurora
Great experience. Love the set up. Winter in Alaska is the best. Place was magnificent and ran very efficiently. We had everything we needed in this off grid place. Love and enjoyed the activities. We highly recommend this place to anyone. Will surely be back

Excellent for viewing the Auroa Borealis
The igloo with the glass front was just awesome, you have a 180 degree view of the entire mountains and valley it was beautiful. They staff and adventures they offer were the very best. Seeing the Auroa lignts had been on our bucket list so we added extra nights (5 total) and saw them 4 of the nights many times. Note take a camera that you can set the ISO and shutter speed is a must.
